Bounce salutes community organizations, activists and everyday neighborhood heroes like the YMCA for providing free access to healthy snacks and meals when school is out for the summer through the Y Summer Food Program.

Did you know that one in six children in the United States don’t know where their next meal is coming from? An estimated 10 percent of American households are food insecure – which means over 11 million children are living in food insecure households.

Summer is a particularly vulnerable time for kids who rely on free or reduced price-meals during the school year. The Y knows that children who receive daily nutrition are set up to succeed.

This is where the Y and community partners step in to help with the Y Summer Food Program!

Through valuable community collaboration with hundreds of partners like the Walmart Foundation, Feeding America, local housing authorities, area schools and faith-based institutions, children ages 18 and under are not only receiving nutritious meals and snacks – they also have access to recreational and learning opportunities to keep them engaged and healthy during the summer months.

The Y is committed to helping kids and their families reach their full potential, this summer and beyond.
