With all that’s going on in the world, a little bit of kindness can go a long way. So grab a pint, because we’re raising a toast to the Black is Beautiful Beer campaign.

Marcus Baskerville is the co-owner of Weathered Souls Brewing Co. in San Antonio, Texas. As a black business owner, he knew he wanted to do something in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

“I was originally going to do just a general beer release,” shares Marcus. “Well, in the process of that, a friend that’s also in the industry basically challenged me to turn it into a collaboration.” And that’s when Black is Beautiful Beer was born!

The Black is Beautiful Beer initiative is a collaborative effort to raise awareness for the injustices people of color face daily.

“I came up with a stout recipe for everybody to use,” Marcus explains. From there, he created a website where breweries can join the cause and commit to donating 100% of the proceeds from the beer to local foundations that support equality and inclusion.

Marcus says the support has been a humbling experience that continues to grow. So far the campaign has drawn participation from over 1,000 breweries in 50 states and 19 countries.

Cheers to that! Learn more about this mission at BlackIsBeautiful.Beer.
